BEDAN PRIDE MAGNIFIED: ROARING FOR MORE @ 84 ANIMO SAN BEDA! GO SAN BEDA FIGHT!
Cheerdancing has always been a passion for students of San Beda-Alabang, and that passion has been proved once again for the sister school are the back-to-back champions in the WNCAA Cheering Competition. Second runner up went St. Scholastica and first-runner up went to Chang Kai Shek.
But this is not the end of the battle, they are asking for the support of the entire Bedan community again as they face even more difficult schools during the National Cheering Competition scheduled on February 2008. Animo San Beda!!!!

College basketball season has ended for 2007, but for the champion schools, the euphoria lives on even after the lights and the buzz have died down. School spirit doesn't end with basketball, especially for my alma mater, San Beda which is still ecstatic over our back-to-back basketball championship.
Winning two championships in a row was symbolic and humbling. For one, my San Beda-Alabang sent a large contingent to both finals, making the victories even sweeter. For another, Fr. Rector Anscar Chupungco reminded the students of Alabang campus when the Red Lions visited, "They are your team too." Our cry now isn't just, "Animo San Beda" or "Go San Beda Fight!" but it's "One San Beda!" The championship showed how unified the San Beda schools can be despite their differences.
San Beda has a rich colorful culture that we like to think is distinct. That is why there is an ever growing demand to project the Bedan pride in style.

Alright, maybe not really ancient, but the book apparently did come all the way from 1950's. According to ¡Ánimo San Beda!, these books came from the Crispulo Zamora era. The Zamora cup was the most coveted crown during the post-war NCAA. San Beda retired the Cup in 1955.
It's not clear who's the owner of the cheerbook, but ¡Ánimo San Beda! recognizes Stardust (Mr. Alex Bernabe) as the owner of the photo. It's now certain that the photo and the cheerbooks are owned by Mr. Bernabe. It was handed down to him by his maternal aunt, Ms. Felicitas Ventura.
This blogsite is overflowing with beautiful stories and interesting trivias about San Beda and its rich tradition, so make sure to give it a visit.
Many reckon that this, along with other policies that were implemented immediately after the recent administration turnover, is a major step backwards for the CAS as it continues to struggle in bringing back its old luster.
As such, The Bedan has started an online petition that states in summary:
...last October 1, 2007, the CAS administration issued another alarming memorandum that threatens not just the students’ rights but the very foundation of democracy in the campus. The memorandum directed the termination of the mandatory collection of the publication fee for the CAS effective the second semester. This publication fund is the life line of the 65-year publication, The Bedan. The publication that produced very notable Bedans, and which continuously renders service to the Bedan community not just as a student-publication but as recorders of our beloved alma mater’s history. Sadly, there was no reason stated in the memorandum.
...
In line with these developments, we are appealing to the administration to heed the request of the editorial board for a dialogue and explanation of the move. We believe that only through open communication that our problems and misunderstandings be fully resolved. In the long run, we would like to see that the school still maintain a healthy and supportive atmosphere for the student press. A genuine and free student press is the ultimate manifestation of democracy in the campus and only through the existence of democracy can the school truly uphold the values it tirelessly preaches.
[edit]We appeal to everyone to please contain your emotions, practice civility and avoid personal derogatory remarks in signing the petition. Also if possible, leave your real names so as to show the authorities our genuine concern for the matter. Thank you.
