Truth be told.

My batchmate Rogie Callejo was suppose to be the standard party bearer of Makamasa.

During that time, the the party was divided into two camps. Being part of the invisible machinery of the party (those who do the dirty tricks, "ideology", organizing, teach-ins, OP, OD etc.), we insisted on having a more "radical" personality to bring back what the party once stood for after the "SC problem".  In other words, an internal clean-up.

The "invisibles" were forced to surface and to represent the party primarily for agitation and to salvage the dwindling reputation.

The old guards of MAKAMASA disagreed with us. In effect, the party was paralyzed.

Rodgie teamed with the "Accounting whiz kids". 3 parties were competing back then. Prior to the election, Rodgie's new party withdrew and Bong Agustin won. 

Rodgie was and is still is a good friend of ours. Ganyan ang Bedista. Beyond party-lines.

After that, I have no news of the party. Busy with labor related educ. work.

Then came the new  generation of "militant" leaders, now Nic Conti and Badong Salire. Mga ka-tropa at nakakabatang kapatid. Dating mga MAKAMASA. The politcs of Tinig has the distinct taste of MAKAMASA but more approachable.

Henry Capela? I personally invited him to join the ticket of Makamasa. I noticed this young man's potential when he was still in his  first year. A unilateral decision made by _________ was another disaster for MKMS. Henry was wrongfully removed from the roster. Bad move. He  then ran as an independent and won. Another blow to the once "powerful", militant and patriotic MKMS. Party discipline was violated. The result was a disaster.

MKMS's demise was also in conjunction with the decline of the student movement, the ebb of the early 90s. It was the time when "feel good" was on the rise. Militancy was becoming sooo baduy...

Marcial Reyes was not appointed... he ran but Makamasa candidate withdrew his candidacy last minute, in a special election....

No, I'm not Dennis Dy.  Ahead ako sa kanya.  Regarding the Marcial Reyes issue, Capela designated him "unofficially" as SC sec-gen since elected sec-gen Cyde Agcaoili (a deadringer of Side A's Joey Generoso) was considered persona non grata in San Beda afte his clashes with Tita Tits and Sir Javillo.  With that, Marcial Reyes decided to run for the SC presidency for the following schoolyear under the Tinig (against Makamasa's Rhod Streegan) but his GPA did not allow him.

Nikki Perez eventually joined the Treasury Dept. of HSBC. He was the boyfriend of an Atenean officemate of mine. The girl then joined Nikki at HSBC. Habulin talaga Bedista.

Another brother-in-arms, Badong Salire, eventually became the President of Ateneo GSB Student Council. 

Cyde's sparring partner was  JV, the Bedan Anarcho-Socialist (kinda).

Nakakatuwang maalala lahat ng mga pangyayari sa CAS Student Council.
I spent 3 glorious years with the Council under Tinig Bedista ( I started as a batch rep) and teamed up with Henry Capela to build the Tinig Bedista reign.

Yes it was a group originally formed by Rogie Callejo and his Accounting friends - Edgar Tejerero (ET)

By the way, I was not disqualified, I was president-elect but was not able to serve my term, but Tinig Bedista continued to support and dominate the Student Council after the Special election..

Sana nga may reunion, good to see all Makamasa and Tinig Bedista again. That's campus politics
